Decomposition behavior of PCDD/F isomers in incinerator gases under electron-beam irradiation

Hirota, Koichi; Kojima, Takuji

Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 78(9), p.1685 - 1690, 2005/09

 Times Cited Count:7 Percentile:31.71(Chemistry, Multidisciplinary)

Decomposition behavior under electron-beam irradiation was examined for polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofuran (PCDF) isomers in incinerator gases. Significant decomposition was obtained for all PCDD isomers over the investigated absorbed doses, which was resulted from oxidation reactions with OH radicals yielded by electron-beam irradiation. In the case of PCDFs, specific isomers having symmetrical structures such as 1, 2, 8, 9-, 2, 3, 7, 8-, and 3, 4, 6, 7-TeCDFs were yielded through the dechlorination of PeCDF isomers. Thermal electrons probably played a role in the dechlorination of PeCDF isomers.

Development of the large-scale fine and non-thermal manufacturing technology using femtosecond, highly- efficient, and high power free-electron laser

Minehara, Eisuke

Proceedings of 28th Linear Accelerator Meeting in Japan, p.402 - 403, 2003/08

The JAERI superconducting RF linac-based free-electron laser has successfully generated 6% highly-efficient, a few hundreds of femtosecond, and several kW class high power FEL light several years ago. In the presentation, it will be reprted that the JAERI plans to develop the higher power free-electron lasers and their application to large-scale non-thermal precision manufacturing technology.

${it S}$$$_{e}$$-scaling of lattice parameter change in high ion-velocity region (${it v}$ $$geq$$ 2.6$$times$$10$$^{9}$$ cm/s) in ion-irradiated EuBa$$_{2}$$Cu$$_{3}$$O$$_{y}$$

Swift heavy ions with wide energy range of 80MeV-3.84GeV have been irradiated to EuBa$$_{2}$$Cu$$_{3}$$O$$_{y}$$ oxide superconductors, and the lattice parameter change due to elecronic excitation has been measured. In the high ion-velocity region, the change in lattice parameter per unit fluence varies as the 4th power of the electronic stopping power. However, in the low-velocity region, the deviation from the 4th power dependence is observed. The results are analyzed by using the primary ionization rate, and it is found that the results support that the Coulomb explosion triggers the atomic displacements.
